STREISAND IN HEATED ARGUMENT OVER 'GLOBAL WARMING'

Well, for Barbara's sake, I'll provide some 10 second responses to the global warming bally-hoo...:

nationalcenter.org

But for those of us who desire more intense and analytical opinions about whether ozone depletion and global warming are, in fact, actual or merely a creation of those "environmentalists" who would seek to accumulate power at the expense of others, here's a few links to consider:

nationalcenter.org

"After a decade of warnings that the Earth's temperature may be rapidly warming, and that this supposed warming may result in a surge of catastrophic flooding and lethal storms, it now appears that we may be in for global cooling instead.

The mammoth west Antarctic ice sheet, which contains enough water to lift the world's sea levels by 20 feet, isn't melting after all. Instead, it's actually thickening and Antarctica itself is getting cooler.1

A new study by researchers from the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the University of California at Santa Cruz, published in the respected journal Science, found that the ice sheets of Antarctica, far from melting, actually are expanding by some 26.8 billion tons of ice a year.2

The scientists, Ian Joughlin, a geologist at CIT, and Slawek Tulaczyk, a professor of earth sciences at UC Santa Cruz, speculate the thickening ice sheets are repeating a pattern that occurred from 1650 -1850 when the Earth went through what became known as the Little Ice Age.3"

"Prepare for the big chill
A new ice age is due now, says Andrew Kenny, but you won’t hear it from the Greens, who like to play on Western guilt about consumerism to make us believe in global warming"

And I find this to be an excellent resource in which most of the major themes debunking ozone depletion to be discussed and graphed out (how ozone is produced and destroyed) and the major sources of that nasty chemical "chlorine" that global warming scientists assert is destroying the Ozone Layer.

The bottom line is that the oceans are the source of the majority of ALL chlorine emitted into the atmosphere (to the tune of some 600 million tonnes of it).. Volcanoes produce much of the rest..

Statement by Atmospheric Scientists on Greenhouse Warming

"WASHINGTON, D.C., FEBRUARY 27, 1992---As independent scientists, researching atmospheric and climate problems, we are concerned by the agenda for UNCED, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, being developed by environmental activist groups and certain political leaders. This so-called Earth Summit is scheduled to convene in Brazil in June 1992 and aims to impose a system of global environmental regulations, including onerous taxes on energy fuels, on the population of the United States and other industrialized nations.

Such policy initiatives derive from highly uncertain scientific theories. They are based on the unsupported assumption that catastrophic global warming follows from the burning of fossil fuels and requires immediate action. We do not agree.

A survey of U.S. atmospheric scientists, conducted in the summer of 1991, confirms that there is no consensus about the cause of the slight warming observed during the past century. A recently published research paper even suggests that sunspot variability, rather than a rise in greenhouse gases, is responsible for the global temperature increases and decreases recorded since about 1880.

Furthermore, the majority of scientific participants in the survey agreed that the theoretical climate models used to predict a future warming cannot be relied upon and are not validated by the existing climate record. Yet all predictions are based on such theoretical models."

Now, of course, we can all choose to believe a singer who lacks even a basic college degree, or we can believe the scientists who still aren't "in the pockets" of the environmentalist lobby, or whoring themselves out to get grant money on the basis of hypothetical (not even theoretical) scientific opinions.

And finally, the next time you think about Smog, remember that it's your car's way of producing Ozone.. So the more you drive in bumper to bumper traffic, the more you help to fight Ozone depletion.. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

So the question that BEGS to be asked is "If it's NOT really about global warming and ozone depletion, then what is the Kyoto Treaty REALLY ABOUT?? Could it be about trying to negatively impact the economies of the developed world while "excusing" the tremendous pollution of the developing smokestack economies?"
