No, no exaggeration. There are some here who will verify this. It is true that for awhile americans didn't want these jobs- no more.

Like you I think the H1-B program, the "brain drain" or whatever, is good for the US economy overall. But we have to keep some perspective, because after all, if bangalore was such a creative microcosm of technical talent, silicon valley would be located there, the internet would have been "invented" there- etc.

I was told recently not to bother applying for a job at applied (I have friends there) because the guy who runs the manufacturing software div at applied is indian, and he only hires indians. True enough... if I were insecure or concerned about my employment situation this might bother me. As it stands I don't care (I actually don't do that kind of work anymore)- but what concerns me is that this kind of viewpoint is so common a backlash is surely brewing.
