Frist Aids Crash Victims, Colleague Helps Too

(2003-01-02) -- Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-TN, put his medical training to good use today helping to stabilize several victims in a Florida car crash. Moments before the ambulance departed, a Senate colleague arrived on the scene and put his legal training to good use by handing out business cards to the crash victims.

"As an attorney, my first instincts are to collect cash damages from big business, and I was privileged to offer my assistance today at the scene of this accident," the unnamed lawmaker said.

"I'm no hero," he added. "I was just doing what I'm trained to do. The tires or the SUV itself probably caused this crash and the manufacturers ought to pay for all this pain and suffering. Of course, I can't take the case while I'm in the Senate, so I gave them the business card of one of my former law partners."
