RESEARCH ALERT-CSFB cuts wireless semi view
Monday January 6, 12:00 pm ET

NEW YORK, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse First Boston on Monday said analyst Michael Masdea had cut his per-share profit forecast for several wireless semiconductor makers, citing risks such as "unsustainable over-ordering" by customers.

Masdea cut his earnings per-share view for RF Micro Devices Inc. (NasdaqNM:RFMD - News) for 2003 to $0.04 from $0.06 and for 2004 to nil from $0.08. He widened his per-share loss forecast for Skyworks Solutions Inc. (NasdaqNM:SWKS - News) for 2003 to $0.08 from $0.04 and cut his 2004 per-share profit view to $0.05 from $0.10.

Masdea also cut his forecasts for Kopin Corp. (NasdaqNM:KOPN - News) and TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. (NasdaqNM:TQNT - News).

Shares of RF Micro closed at $8.10 Friday on the Nasdaq Stock Market and shares of Skyworks at $9.32.

[Harry: Not sure why the KOPN downgrade. HBT has not been a significant part of revenues the last few Q's. Growth has come from market share gains from cyberdisplay for video camera. Blue light LED's will be a new growth segment for KOPN this year. Demand current is twice industry capacity. Price is an issue though.]
