I would completely agree that the absurd, pompous and totally irresponsible responses to my posts has caused the atmosphere to be poisoned here to a degree countless times worse than anything my initial words could have engendered. 1. A simple request to change the UNVC holding would have sufficed. It was a mistake (which I've already acknowledged). Rather, the first response was an accusation that I was attempting to slip something by; from there, a number of irresponsible participants ran with it...baffling many other folks who have told me so through PM. siliconinvestor.com 2. A simple request to offer an additional/alternative charity to the Atheism-based organization would have sufficed. It was a mistake which was unnecessarily antagonistic and I apologize for that. Similarly, the response by a number of irresponsible participants on this thread, often citing christian values or doctrine, was equally antagonistic and unnecessary. The most beguiling aspect of this entire sorry affair was, and is, the words and behavior of you, Michael Murphy. I sent you 3 or 4 private messages, some expressing frustration at your arbitrary and heavy handed actions (for example see follow-up post #1 Message 18421308 ), others providing some material that you should have found confounding towards your presumptions (see #2 Message 18421309 ). I received absolutely no response. Absolute silence. You, Mr. Murphy, felt it was completely unnecessary to reply, in time or in kind to any of my efforts. Finally, after waiting 4 days , you grace me with some words in effect justifying your behavior and that of those who have agreed with you, stating 'conditions' for my return, and requesting that I refrain from and repudiate ad hominem posts (I found it bizarre, to say the absolute least, that the entire tenor of your posts during this event was ad hominem personified, especially subsequent to your soapbox lecture to me). My private messages (and the couple of public posts) are running about 3-to-1 against your handling, and your ongoing attitude, of this entire affair Michael. To the extent my initial behavior was antagonistic, and it was, your response has been abysmal. I will adhere to whatever public behavioral assumptions reign of this thread. I will continue to lambaste the wholesale hypocrisy and blatant double standards that were shown to surface on this thread. I now know the majority of participants do NOT view me as a pariah, like you and your sycophants do, but rather someone who, like you, has a POV...and makes mistakes. If the content and tone of this post does not meet your 'expectations' (!), fine. KICK ME OFF, once and or all. But your lectures fall on deaf ears and your unjustified and thoughtless actions are a malignancy on SI. I've learned that the vast majority of members of this forum are, unlike yourself, considerate and extreme only in their equanimity. And that is why, in the end, this has been a gratifying experience. I have found SI members in general, and those on this thread in particular, to be a very, VERY good group of people. Thanks so much to everyone who participated in this discussion and especially those who personally conveyed their acknowledgment of my right to speak freely.
