I don't think he ever tried to destroy her even when the lid came off.... And before that he had no reason to buy her off, she thought she was keeping it secret also except for sharing it with her "confidant and friend".... re: Betty Currie paid a price, there's no doubt about that, but I don't think she would have had it any other way. Remember, the missing 18 minutes of Nixon tapes "accidentally" erased by Mrs. Lincoln (?)....remember Ollie North's secretary stealing secret government documents damaging to Ollie by hiding them in the waistband of her skirt????
