I'm not saying that the rest of the world isn't entitled to an opinion. I'm saying that what polls taken in those countries say about what they purport to think about us shouldn't affect our decisions on what we are going to or not going to do. I don't really care whether they like us or not. I care whether we as a country are doing the right thing. And what's right is what WE think is right for us to do, not what THEY think is right for us to do. There are 300 million or so people in this country. I think we have the opinion spectrum pretty well covered right here at home. Surely you recognize that in broad terms it is a general trait of Europeans to be suspicious of great success, whether of people or of nations.
