Well, the economy during the Bush (41) Administration wasn't great, but 1992 was not a recession, and GDP growth was positive every quarter. And the market did crash in 2000, and GDP went from positive growth of .1%(Q4, 2000) to negative growth of -.1% (Q1, 2001) - with an official beginning of the recession, March 2001.
