Hopefully, but -- considering Hitler's example and comparison with the Bush technique of leveraging terrorism into looting the treasury, enticing corp interests and eliminating citizen rights, as well as comprehensive domestic spy technology under convicted criminals like Poindexter -- the possibilities of near-total control of news and personal information are on the table. In that, we'll helped by the libertarian impulses of internet engineers trying to keep open channels of communication among Americans who dissent against these downward-spiraling policies of increased gov't control of all aspects of life. "Smart Mobs" by Rheingold describes heretical network technologies that give people realtime assembly techniques, so things like the June 10th Nat'l Press Club debacle doesn't happen so easily. I have great faith in the citizens of this country to do the right thing, once they know what it is. The gov't-influenced corporate media will not fool them forever.
