Leigh,
Hi!!

RE: "Trade shows mirror the health of a sector, and the tech industry is in disarray," says Douglas Ducate, CEO of the Center for Exhibition Industry Research. He expects some tech shows to consolidate and more companies to copy eBay and Oracle, who do smaller conventions targeted at customers and developers.

This is pure nonsense...At least as far as DELL goes...DELL has walked away from these cost sucking events and put their money into their own "tech show" for corporate CIO's...Simultaneously being offered during the same time slot and perhaps in the same city...Perhaps even within walking distance of...I attended (snuck into one of these via of being a CIBA GIGA Exec. :o)...) I had another chance to hear Michael speak to the CIO's of corporations from around the world during 1999...I believe DELL may have been one of the first to pull their "show" from the tables at these expos...I personally learned so much from hearing others speak while listening to these guys/gals who pull the levers for the big bucks at various corporations...So, why spend the time and money on an expo? Obviously, DELL was preaching and the word was being spread of what they can offer and why pay someone a dime if you can do it for yourself?

Best, Kemble
