Funny...but not accurate.-g-

Consider that total mortgage debt is 1999.9 billion and the total number of housing units, vacant and occupied, condo, single family, summer or year round is 123,425,000....then average mortgage debt per unit is $16,203 (check my math). This means that a huge number of houses in this country are owned outright, free and clear of any mortgage debt. The figure I always hear is 1/3. Anyone know where to find the exact figure?
