I have done considerable amounts of programming in Visual Basic for PC-based MMI and various PLC (ladder logic format) controlled operations - machine, material handling and process related. The DCS oversight programs we use also tend to be more configurable than "written" per se. Fuzzy Logic when integrated into heuristic or PID process algorythims tend to provide excellent intuitive feed-forward and smoothing characteristics; again they come embedded in the software or controllers these days. Looking at industrial processes, rather than political BS, the gozintas, addtozits, takouttas, and gozouttas are a lot more fun to spend one's time on, IMHO. JIT is fine with me, pocketta, pocketta, pocketta, pocketta......... John :-) .
