But then do you count the Iraqi soldiers that where killed by Iran as being killed by Saddam? I suppose you could, after all they would not have died without his order. Its a little like "felony murder". If someone dies because you commit a felony you can be charged with murder even though you did not kill them. In one case that I read about, an armed thief's partner was shot by the cops and he was charged with felony murder.
