You ought to check out John Kerry (johnkerry.com), along with McCain the #1 defender of veterans rights. He was Silver Star, Bronze Star and triple Purple Heart winner who led the gunboats of the Mekong to offensive victories in very hot zones. he could have avoided the draft like Bush-Cheney-Delay-Limbaugh did, in fact he was almost in Bush's class at Yale, but he chose to volunteer and fought bravely in the hottest of combat areas. He now champions veterans rights and smart military. he is the foremost expert on these affairs in the Senate and would gladly put on a uniform tomorrow to fight beside you if our country were threatened. Don't believe the 'Slick Willy" propaganda any more than you do Saddam's propaganda. It's un-American. Clnton's strength was not the military but his era gave us the money we needed for military build-up after being attacked. Kery would never make a mistake like the big one Bush just made with North Korea. Your 40,000 brothers in arms are in danger now because of Bush's big mouth. Bush has never risked a knee-scrape in his life. He's the son of a big rich politician who got everything he ever got on a silver spoon. He is a charming guy though. No doubt. But dont think he's a military genius. He is actually pretty clueless. Thank God we have Powell in there.

Concerning priorities, the Bush Administration has added substantial funding to several areas of defense activity that it considered to be underfunded, most notably military pay and benefits, training, equipment maintenance, and scientific research. However, because the increases it proposes are spread across the entire defense budget, the priority assigned to major categories of activity has changed little since the Clinton years. In the year 2000, the Clinton Administration spent 26% of the defense budget on military personnel; Bush would spend 25% in 2003 and 26% in 2005. In 2000, the Clinton Administration spent 14% of the defense budget on research and development; Bush would spend the same percentage in 2003 and 15% in 2005. There is similar alignment across time in the shares allocated to procurement, and to operations and maintenance.

* In other words, no big diff except Star Wars and more satellites and stealth-smart systems. Glod bless 'em except for Star Wars, a waste of money which wakes up China and North Korea's super-hawks
