And as an example of the first wave of independents you give a man who styled himself as a (small l)ibertarian. He even called himself a libertarian until the (big L)ibertarians objected.

I agree that his margin of victory came from the folks who don't usually vote. They were inclined to do that to give the two established parties an electoral middle finger. This inclination was transformed into action, I contend, by Ventura's libertarian rhetoric. He would never have won as a Wellstone liberal or a Buchanan conservative.

I solute your boldness in making election predictions 12 years into the future. Maybe you should change your nom de keyboard to Harry Seldon.<g>
