Hi tyke,

This is a huge topic and deserves greater minds than mine. The only thing I am confident in is that when yah got it all figured out it'll kick you in the balls. There is one thing I know for sure and that is that I don't know and I play it that way as best I can. It seems to work. Be careful. Cover all bases. I retired at 53 and have a pleasant life. Good enough for this little puppy. See yah later tyke, going snowmobiling for a bit.

p.s. got a nice grub from hell, thank you <gg>

<But surely the strength of the US fiat is its industrial capacity, its GDP potential.>

The industrial and manufacturing capacity of the US has been shipped to Asia and abroad in the past decades. Services are what drive the economy.

Get ready for a 30-50% loss in 2003-2004. I think. I will be buying IBM near $40 next year.

U.S. industrial capacity is in decline. It is our overpowering military that provides the fig leaf for the dollar. /BSG

tyke,
<But surely the strength of the US fiat is its industrial capacity, its GDP potential>

And I would add its military capacity.
