I'm not too excited about this proposal since I am one of those whose dividends are mostly paid in tax deferred accounts. There's double taxation in other areas e.g. sales tax on items you buy with your income that has already been taxed. I'd rather see decreased income tax than a reduction on dividend tax.

I have to paraphrase Begala again:

"Please, PLEASE! make a stand against the reform of dividend taxation by fighting against the CONCRETE FACT that dividends are double taxed. PLEASE!"

The new investor class will swat you like a fly. One of the fundamental frauds of the socialistic anti-American attitude of the Democratic party is the sacred cow of double-taxing dividends. Bush has again shone the spotlight on one more cockroach idea of the Marxist/Leninist left, and they are all screaming bloody murder about it. It's just another sign that American socialism is, at long last, doomed...
