I've said this before but you also have to consider that Intel, a very big part of the cutting edge market, has an awful lot of capacity coming on line (and in some cases on hold). So the question is - how much of an upturn in demand can intel satisfy within existing capex? It could be a lot. Disclosure - Long intel, amat, nvls, dpmi, klac, klic. Some covered calls recently written on some of these.

Gottfried and threaders, according to the IBD the semiequipment maker subsectors since October have moved from the 196 level out of 197 low upward to the 135 level in a steady fashion. Currently, the IBD has AMAT rating at an EPS rating of 65 of 99 high, overall rating of 53, R/S of 55, Industrial sector ranking of 135 of 197, ROE of C, ACC of B+, overall ranking above 9 out of 63 stocks in its subsector, 13 of 63 of 63 fundamentally, and 11 of 63 attractive rating not ranking in the top five of the semiequipment above $10. Following is ranking of the DW 41 sectors. Note in comparing the 197 IBD subsectors with the DW 41 sectors that the semimanufacturing sector is in the overbought area of the IBD while the semimanufacture equipment is in the oversold area and moving up.
