My son has the same view of it as I have: Get the fastest cards in 512MB size, max. Sara Krulwich (NYT) also deals with max 512MB cards. I do recall she had a corruption as well, way back, maybe two years ago, with a slow 256MB Lexar.

I've never had a single problem with any of my four 512MB Trascend cards (knocking on wood). But I now have them numbered, just in case any do go bad. Also, I make it a habit to download as often as possible, especially at work -- bound to see a "?" one of these days, dread it already...
