The dollar is preparing for another assault to the depths.

So much for Bush's econ plan. Bush's plan is interesting, no items in regard to long term economic solutions in my opinion. Speech writer and party economics.

One of the largest issues in regards to the present situation is debt. Were there any incentive items to reduce the reliability upon continued debt generation? No I don't think so. Instead we are gonna get more.

The market feed us information, all the time. During the bubble and so far during the decline making money in the markets is all about rotating at the correct times. Money looking for a safe haven, which it can not find. So it rotates like a dog chasing its tail. In my opinion when this thing finally bottoms and shakes out the markets will go through a long spell of 'less' action, on a comparative basis to what we have been experiencing for several years.

In the meantime gold may be a safe haven, for a long time to come.

During this whole affair running a major company, or being head of a political party, is all about 'spin'. Spin it the best you can to make it through this month, this qtr., whatever. Don't do anything that might be perceived as long term, just for the moment. The Tycos, Enrons, Wcoms, etc. have not caused 'spin' to stop. It is still going on, everywhere.

Additionally the Fed and Bush think they are omnipotent and can do anything. It is in everyone's interest to understand what is going on, on a real fundamental sense. A good place to start is by reading McCulley of Pimco. He has published a very good series of articles (McCulley has the brains, Gross has the mouth). Go into Pimco and search the archives on McCulley. His latest is another good article. It is quite plausible in my opinion that the fed will fail,in its efforts to 'reflate'. There isn't exactly great historical precedence for what they are doing.

In the meantime gold and puts seem like low risk plays.
