Actually, Americans chose Gore over Bush by 50,000 votes. The Electoral College and the Court chose Bush.

He also made a conscious decision to pay down national debt and buy back and refinance federal debt at lower rates.

Single best decision he ever made. This gave confidence to business by starting to remove the overhang of federal debt that was 'crowding out' private and public company debt issuance.
