I think it would be an economically sound idea from a long term perspective if it were accompanied by government spending cuts of the consumption variety. However, I think the current intent is more or less to juice the stock market. I think the Bushies are in economic desperation mode because the Fed is failing in its attempts to control the impact of the bursting of the bubble. I think both sides of the aisle are idiots if they think we need more consumption to get this economy healthy. That might work for 6 months and then we'd be in even deeper voodoo.

Mike, I have never understood the term that dividends don't lie.

The safer source of income would be all the stuff AG worked so hard to get out of the system.
