I think the dividend yield on the S&P is about 1.7%. As a stimulus move this is a joke. stocks are valued on some sort of implied intrinsic value which has much more to do with implied future earnings than current or future dividends. As a shareholder I would be happier with a company that continuously repurchased shares than on which paid dividends if i owned a company that couldn't figure out how to invest retained earnings productively. The proposal does nothing to stimulate corporate investment which is at the heart of our current problems. The federal deficit looks to be a huge problem going forward. W has it on ignore. Dow off about 150 today. Double dip here we come unless oil drops under 20 a barrel
