I do not even know who Rich is.
But if it happened could it have been for some friendship kind of thing as opposed to a $ kind of thing.

Big Business was behind Bush 100% because he could be bought.
They will do anything and everything to get him reelected.
If that can not be done, they will plunder whatever they can right now.

Protection of Credit Card industry pirates
Protection of banks
Protection of oil
protection of people like Charles Schwab who has 230million shares collecting a nice dividend of .04 and will get a huge benefit when the average IRA holder gets nothing.
New bankruptcy laws to guarantee the little guy stay in debt forever lessening the risk for sickening push of additional credit for marginal customers. This makes me puke.

I could go on but I would run out of time.

LOL! You can be so naive sometimes. It's all that AC air you're breathing down in Houston. All you guys ever think about is money.

<<My one disagreement is that I think Marc Rich bought Clinton. There is no other plausible explanation of that pardon. >>

Marc just gave Hillary a quick romp while Bill was doing his see-gar thang. What could wild Bill say when Hill gave him the suggestion that Marc deserved a widdle bitty break? -g- After all, they don't call it the beltway for nothing.

KT,

>My one disagreement is that I think Marc Rich bought Clinton. <

Wall St also bought Clinton.

Either that, Rubin is a hypnotist, or Clinton is not as smart as we give him credit for.

IMO there's no other way to explain 5 or so years of him doing everything possible to encourage and sustain global financial rape and pillage.

I use such harsh terms because regardless of the initial intention (and I am cynical enough to think it WAS the intention of Wall St), that's what was happening. That fact was quite clear to most reasonably bright people.

So to use the powers and institutions of government to support and expland the bubble and bail out The Street repeatedly means that you are either scum, not as smart as we think, or bought and paid for.

I vote for the 3rd option. :-)
