There's about a 2% fringe at each end of the spectrum who are potential dangerous. Fortunately few people take them seriously so their ideas will never catch on. Timothy McVeigh vs. Ted Kaszinski. Ironically, both extreme ends agree with each other in some ways.

More of concern to me are the rewards and power being handed out to the religious right for their get-out-the-vote campaigns in the south. While there are a few places in this country where repressive Baptist type upbringing is the norm they have undo power in this administration and are trying to spread their dogma nationally. For instance, abstinence only programs which avoid real sex education and tell kids they are going to get AIDS if they have sex, even with a condom. I would feel better if Bush stood up to them from time to time like Clinton did with Sistah Soljah. But he probably wont.
