John, you may be right that we are in the minority on this issue. But sentiment can change.

One thing we can be sure of, if we end up drilling in ANWR (and I believe it's a near certainty in the next few years). The bar of protection to the environment will have been raised.

One thing American businesses can do is build complex structures. We build silicon wafer plants all over the world. We went to the moon. We built Trident Submarines. We launch and land Space Shuttles on a fairly routine basis. Building the most advanced, environmental safe drilling platform in ANWR would be a piece of cake.

Does anyone on the opposing side of drilling seriously believe we cannot build an environmentally safe platform in ANWR? I don't believe there are many.

So it's really a political question. And political points of view can change.
