North Korea was not in violation until after Bush's Axis Of Evil speech and other speeches where he promised the US would be supreme and unilaterally attack potential threats. The paranoids in the NK government took this as a direct threat and did as they might be expected to do, rattled sabers back. After all they have no food but a lot of sabers. And we, my friend, have no rational military option against them. Therefore the Axis Of Evil speech was one of the greatest blunders in modern foreign affairs UNLESS we can somehow get China to put the NK genie back in the bottle. But it wil probably take another payoff from us, exactly what Bushies attacked Clintonites for doing. Face it, we have no leverage against NK now except begging China to intercede. China whom we just deployed SDI against. Who has little reason to trust our intentions. Even conmservatives agree with this, as you might have seen on Hardball the other day. NK is a far greater and more present threat than Saddam will ever be.
