I don't need to differentiate all the different uses of language. That isn't what I was talking about. My premise is that language is labeling, since we were talking about labeling. Further, since language is labeling I also suggest that we are programmed to label. But, it is also my contention that looking at the process of language as labeling is healthy and productive, and not (as you suggested) useless. Why you think I also need to differentiate the uses of languages seems to me like a red herring. I never said language didn't have many uses, and that has nothing to do with my premise that language is labeling. All language is labeling, but that does not limit the uses of that labeling. I would have thought that was clear from the git go, but apparently not.
