They both just paid dividends. PSAFX does so monthly and BEARX at the end of the year. Mine are automatically reinvested. And of course, the NAV drops by the amount of the dividend because they are open-end funds. But yes, BEARX just paid a pretty large dividend, including long term capital gains. Oh you were asking about BEGBX. There the dividend is pretty small and I think paid only once a year.

if you want steady income from funds in bonds of other countries, check out the closed-end funds FCO and FAX. I have a really big hunk of FAX that I am keeping indefinitely for the income, much of which is return of capital. Both of these pay monthly.

But as we always say, do your own research. No investment is perfect and unexpected risks are always surfacing. For example, if Australia sinks into the ocean I will lose a lot of money <G>
