These are comments to you in that your random mention of evil led me to express some ideas that have been banging around in my head. This post is to you only because you happened to mention evil today.

It like the Grocho Marx show... you said today's magic word.

"EVIL"

I parse an analysis differently. First I'll say Kim Jong-il is scum and the world would have been better off and will be better off when he is gone.

Kim Jong-il is a threat, a dangerous individual and evil.

But evil I divide into two measurements.

1. Evil by acts.
2. Evil by choice.

Evil by acts is simple. What evil does he do. The sum of the evil is the measure. He is in the top .1%.

Evil by choice is complex. What values of good was the individual ever exposed to and what has been rejected.
This is a measure of the peak value of the evil.

If a person by instinct and luck gets to a position and friends and life tutors him that evil is success, it makes him more dangerous and leads to a large sum of evil. But the peak may not be that high.

But I would say in God's eye evil is judged by peak evil.
What did you know and how did you act.

Let's say an individual grows up in America in a blue collar area. Is educated and has two loving parent, normal. Has extensive training and exposure to let us say Catholic doctrine. Let's say he pens a few books that contain practical life and moral value. Books I read and found full of common sense.

If such a person has a national platform to communicate and pronounces condemning judgement upon an individual with clearly no basis for that judgement, Is that not extreme evil. In my no spin zone, I quantify it as the peakest evil I have ever seen.

A woman kills all her children. The husband working to make ends meet had to have known his wife was over the edge. I think of all the times I missed cues about people I trusted and I marvel that anyone could proffer such. But to be so self assured he would speak it publicly to the world.

The husband is evil and as guilty for not reading a person he so loved, he married her and created children with her.

What sickening judgement. What pain and agony was heaped upon this man suffering the loss of his entire family at the hands of a person he loved so.

In the movie the "Devil's Advocate" At the end after failing in temptation Al Pacino as the Devil says. "Vanity, Vanity is my favorite sin."

Vanity corrupts and is the spawn of the most skank of evil.
