One thing it has also gotten Bush is sympathy from the general, uncommitted public. In their frustration the dems look less and less caring and more obstructionist.

A great example - The dems tried to make a big issue out of potentially expiring benefits for the unemployed. Once the republicans got control of both houses of congress it got passed and signed into law in a matter of hours. So who was really standing in the way of progress? The crats.
