Really? What's wrong with Heather having two mommies and having a book about it? There are books about Heather having no daddy, or Heather having nappy hair, or Heather learning to speak English and missing her former country. All valid subjects to explore in books. It isn't as if the schools want to force your child to have two mommies. What's the problem with letting kids know some kids do have two mommies? I don't see the problem. That seems like toleration. You don't have to want your kid to have two mommies, or even like that mommies sometimes prefer other mommies, but it's important your kid know that some kids do live in that situation, and those kids should be treated the same as everyone else (and children may not be well prepared to treat them that way, especially if they grow up in the homes of people who have something against Heather and her mommies from the get go- and I'm certainly not implying you do, but there are plenty of people out there who do).
