They don't. They represent people with what they consider to be constitutional issues, regardless of whether those people are loveable or even likeable. I don't agree with 100% with every position that the ACLU has taken, but probably there isn't any person in the world who agrees 100% with every position that the ACLU has taken, and that includes the powers that be in the ACLU.
