It's more likely the Soviet Union will collapse than the 16th amendment be overturned. Er, wait a minute.... Ain't gonna happen. And not because of all the unemployed IRS and tax preparer types. Because the rest of the federal gov't would collapse without that income. Interstate highways. Fed aid to education. SS. Federal welfare. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force. War on Drugs. SEC. FBI. ATF. Secret Service. All kinds of stuff goes down the drain. No serious politician can even support flat taxes because of all of the IRS employees and accountants that would be put out of work. I bet if Congress passed a flat tax right now, it would stay flat for about 5 minutes. In that time the first special interest would have gotten the first loophole drafted and passed.
