Are you talking about 2002 or 2001? Because, the latest data I have is for 2001, and CO2 emissions decreased 1.1% in the United States (the EU increased .75% and Germany increased >1.5%). I didn't know that emissions dropped by 4% in 2002!

For the entire year of 2001, real GDP grew at +.25%. I don't think the numbers for 2002 are out yet, but I'm sure there was no recession in 2002.
