Because it does not exist, it does not mean its not a useful concept. It may well be that its way ahead of its time.

100% government control of the means of production can't happen without mass mind control. Any person's hands or brains can be used to create things. No government can control everyone all of the time and if it could it would make the governments in "1984" look like a beacon of libertarianism.

"The more government there is the close you get to socialism. "

Oh, horse shit......you could have a huge gov't that does everything but control production and distribution of goods and prohibit private ownership of property and it would not be socialism.

Every service the government provides is an example of government control of the means of production of that service. Regulation on privately provided goods or services increases the amount of government control.

As a culture becomes more civilized, its not unusual for it to be more altruistic.

Taking money from some one else to give it to a third party is not altruistic. Also a lot of government spending and regulation has little to do with helping people who are poor or otherwise disadvantaged.

The desired end might not be to go all the way in that direction but at some point they have to stop moving in that direction if they are to avoid that end (or avoid the closest approximation that can be "achieved" by a large nation)

Yikes, they are not even close.

If you add taxes at all levels and the effects of regulation they are close to half the way there. Fortunatly it is a huge step to go from half to all the way but we are to a point that every step in that direction become harmful.

Opposition to such party planks is based on support for freedom and desire for economic benefit to the country.

That's what I believe people say to mask the fear

I believe I know what motivates me better then you do. I don't ascribe dark or even emotional motivations to your opinions at least not if you state otherwise.

Of course, it can't be said one is worried that they will lose their money
especially when they have piles so they say its not for the good of the country.

I don't have piles, but if I did that wouldn't make it right for others to steal it from me.

The arrogance is in believing that everything one makes is solely attributable to the intellect, abilities and hard work of that person.

I have never claimed that it is, but a large part of it is because of people's abilities and hard work. But even if it was just luck and I inhereted money or won a lottery the money is still mine. Its just as wrong to take it from the lucky as it is to take it from the hard working or smart.

So instead of worrying whether the gov't is getting too big and taking all your hard earned money, I suggest you worry more that all the peoples in this great country feel they have been adequately entitled.

They are entitled to what they have worked for or otherwise managed to fairly obtain. If they think they are entitled to steel from others just because others have more they are wrong. Weather or not it leads to violence this unjust sense of entitlement is a dangerous force.

Ask the people of LA.......they learned the hard way.

Yeah they thought they where entitled to break in to stores and take what ever they want. A real example of justice and altruism...
