Hi Pezz:

>>Only good can come from this war<< The cost to the world of establishing democracy in Iraq will not be negligible. But that's money, just money (aka oil I guess).

The probability of eventually leaving behind some kind of Arab Noriega in Bhagdad (yet another Hussein...) is, well, not negligible either. What's the cost involved? It's the whole ME that may either keel over or stabilize ... back to the unsolved Palestine problem and some name and adress ("square A25 in the cementery") changes. Or it can be kmuch much better than we ever hoped. From looking into the rearview mirror - repeat of Japan and Germany? I just dont know.

The chance of a foobar situation? - we'll find out soon I guess.

pezz,

Re: as much as I hate to agree with Mq on anything

Well now there is where we differ. I'd prefer to be in complete agreement with Mq at all times. Life in perfect harmony and all that jazz.

Re: I think your basic anti war message has made you somewhat inflexible.

Somewhat? I'll work on removing any sense of compromise from my message starting now.

Re: NPR has had some interesting programs on Saddams policy of torturing relatives of those who oppose him.

And has NPR engaged in fair and balanced reporting by discussing the latest efforts by our C.I.A. to ship detainees off to Algeria, Turkey and other "friends" who torture these men for us? Or do they embargo such news from the befuddled American populace?

Re: We hear constant criticism of the world for looking the other way during the Naiz years. Should we allow this monster to do business as usual?

Sorry.... which one? Bush or Hussein?
