About half of our elected officials are opportunists, for whom principle is a major inconvenience. The increasing futility of the Democratic attempt to regain power will create turnover among them. Miller's announcement is not the last for the Dems. I give Harry Reid, for instance, a 65% probability of making the same announcement in late 2003, while a number of Dem dinosaurs in both houses are likely to follow suit. Miller could'a been a contender-he just had to switch parties. He prefers to quit-which indicates that will benefit the people of Georgia, as well...
