Possible buyouts are not hard to pick - just find a company that would be a good addition for a larger entity in terms of their product, client base, cash on hand, personnel, etc.

The problem is guessing which companies will actually be taken over and when. The odds of getting that right are so slim that it's not worth using the buyout angle to base a trade or investment.

I invest in companies that are good value propositions to begin with. That also makes them good takeover prospects. But the chances I will be in at the moment that the few lucky ones are actually bought are slim.

Last year I owned and sold PVAT, COGI and MIHL before they were bought out. I can tell you what to look for in fundies but I have no idea how the TA shapes up.
