It's up to parents to teach kids special things like their particular religious beliefs. But the kids need to learn more than just that narrow view. They need to learn science and birth control. And the kids should have a choice. This whole debate comes from the religious right blaming liberals for their kids learning "too much". In fact it's a buncha blown out of proportion bull. When I was in school 30 years ago we had all kinds of gay teachers. They weren't recognized as gay then but they were. My scout master was a pedophile who killed a kid by accident. No one ever complained back then but now despite very tough laws about touching kids the right-wing makes it sond like things have gotten worse. They haven't. In fact gays are much better now since they can go to their gay gatherings and dont have to stay tortured in the closet. There are always a few harmful people, but that goes for characters all all sides. For instance would you want a KKK teacher or an anti-abortion nut teaching your kids? Just have to be rational and the PTA has to watch things.
