Jim, I believe human nature is ultimately stronger than religion. The young people in Iran don't want fundamentalism. They have had a taste of western culture. They want Levis. They want night clubs, alcohol and dancing .They want to get laid. The women want jobs, education and freedom. They all want new cars and all the toys that the modern world can offer. They don't want to bow down 20 times a day (whatever) They have been deprived these things by the old Mullas. These old Mullas will not go quietly as we see but at worst the new day begins when they die.At best they get thrown out sooner by the glitter that the modern world offers.

The internet has begun to open the eyes of the young to the possibilities. A modern and prosperous Iraq will finish the job. I don't think they will be denied especially when they see the Iraqis enjoying life. Sooner or later all religions that are too restrictive will be swept away by the modern world. It's inevitable. It cannot be stopped. the only question is when? I believe the process has begun . Islam will adapt to a milder form or die .
