For the past two months in a row -- and for the third month out of four -- jobs have disappeared from the economy. In December, businesses eliminated 101,000 jobs from their payrolls. And that comes on the heels of an upwardly-revised 88,000-job cut in November.

Not only does this mean that the unemployment situation will get even worse for workers in the months ahead, it also means that businesses aren't stepping up to the plate. That doesn't bode well for anybody hoping for an economic recovery anytime soon.

With millions of Americans out of work and facing no job prospects, consumer confidence levels are set to fall even more -- and they're already near decade lows! Consumer spending will fall even lower -- and consumers have already handed ...
