Nearly 2 years after the fact (I really should celebrate the anniversary of it -- the shutting of that door resulted in my life being so much better now), I can relive exactly those same feelings again when reading that. The mixture of extreme sadness at the ending of something I loved dearly and the extreme relief of no longer having to bear the burden of it is an exquisite combination few people get the opportunity to really feel with anywhere near that intensity, I think. Or maybe everyone does when they retire.
