The 1993 sell-off was not that dramatic... so comparing apples and apples (short gold to short gold history), it may well be a meek and mild sell-off!

What I am seeing is that they are short when gold is rising and long when it is falling. Their shift from long to short seems to precede the rise in the gold price and vice versa. So the fact that they are very short means gold should go up....
