pezz, You seem ill-informed about the nature of U.S. government policy toward Iraq. For instance, you say: "Bush's stated reasons for going into Iraq are total BS . I agree . But the humanitarian reasons (not his ) are real. Your views on Bush are correct. But you fail to understand or simply do not know the history of U.S. policy for the past 11 years w/r/t humanitarian concerns in Iraq. You must learn that it was the U.S. Air Force which destroyed the waterworks in Iraq during and after the Gulf War. Both potable water and sewerage systems were targeted and destroyed throughout the country. Then, to make sure that cholera, amoebic dysentery, infant diarrhea and other waterborne pathogens weakened and killed the civilian population of Iraq, we sanctioned chlorine. The U.S. cynically stated that chlorine is a dual-purpose chemical, with applications in WOMD programs. Thus we legalistically subverted our stated humanitarian goals. When confronted with the fact that this cynical scheme had murdered at least 500,000 Iraqs, especially the vulnerable infants and children, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright stated that this "was an acceptable cost" of our foreign policy. What the hell is humanitarian about this? These are crimes against humanity and the reason we refuse to abide by the ICC, a world court that would expose the U.S. regime as a criminal conspiracy. -Ray
