>>That doesn't seem fair. Is that necessary?<<

Yup, because everyone else, even late entrants, is using prices from that date. From the subject of the thread:

>>- In the portfolio, for each security:
Company name
Symbol (if not quoted on SI, eg foreign, provide symbol and link to definitive quote e.g. UK:PRM www.ft.com)
Number of shares (fractional shares eg. 12.003 OK)
Price of last trade 31 Dec 2001
Cost basis (=shares x price)<<

>>"Insider trading"
We're pretty relaxed about getting the entries in. Some time by mid-January is OK. Everyone gets the benefit/penalty of year end closing prices for valuation. If you procrastinate and one of your stocks has a big jump perhaps it is better left to the "comments section". <<

If you genuinely tried to get your entry in before, say, Elan had its run, then it's probably OK. Michael is the final arbiter, of course. When I put mine in, AMEV was just starting its run, was already up YTD about 20%. I think others may also have benefited from that (It's already given a lot back, anyhow). So I think it would unfair if you didn't -- to yourself.

Cheers, Tuck

The whole idea here is to garner charitable donations, in the spirit of friendship.

You are allowed.

But, while you're making the price adjustments? The rules..... you can't have more than 20% in any one stock so you'll also need to adjust down MEDX and add somewhere else.

aside..... I've rec'd a couple of donor notifications, Research Fund, from OCF, Inc. Thanks!!
