I can't think of a fancy, legal sounding argument for "it's mine and you'll take it away over my dead body and my buddies, too."

How about, "possession is nine points of the law"? I just think of the Basques as the ultimate example because anthropologists think they are directly descended from the Cro-Magnons.

The Zionists never argued that they held the deed in the Torah, now everybody else please scram. Think of Zionism as a takeover of a mismanaged company by the original owners who had previously sold it (in the Jews' case, quite unwillingly). The new owners do a hostile takeover, revamp the management and the product line, invest in massive modernization, and start running a modern company. The old shareholders (the Turkish and Arab land owners) and the new shareholders (the Zionists and Britain and then the US) are pleased and make a good profit. The fired management team and the old employees (the Palestinians) are mad as hell.

Just an analogy, but perhaps it helps.

Possession is 9/10ths of the Law.
