I bet there are a lot of smaller effects houses that use AMD processors. The smaller places have to use every trick in the book to stay competitive, and I think the economies of scale allow them to be more nimble when picking technology solutions. I bet the majority of the effects movies made today have had Athlons used in at least some small part of their production. Its just less sexy for AMD to publish that stuff. Plus they probably don't even know about it. The big companies get all the attention because of their high profile projects. Even if they are not the first adopters.
