Phil:

I agree that a part of the US polciy is to establish a foothold in the Oil Producing Middle East. If we conquer Iraq, we will be able to establish permanent Military presence in the area without fear of government turning on us. Of course there are risks involved but perhaps the administration has calculated that it must act or the entire midddle east (and oil supply badly needed by the west) will be disrupted.

It is difficult to tell because we don't know everything the government knows. For example, I have a friend who sent me an article by a service called DBEKA, I don't know much about them, but there are connections between AlQueda and Iraq, according to them.

I question this because if these connections could be proven, it would seem to be in our best interest to let it be known as this would surely build support for the war. Nonetheless, I doubt if we know all of the reasons the govt. has decided to invade Iraq.
