IMO you are your ideas. The ideas we have, the principles we inculcate into our children, form the core of who we are, in terms of our identity as individual personalities. Our genetic identity isn't something we are conscious of, but impells us to reproduce. Our conscious identity impels us to reproduce our ideas, whether in our children, or in print here on SI. Your joy in seeing your ideas propagated is a selfish joy. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but it is, imo, totally selfish.
